EAST ORANGE (WABC) -- Authorities in New Jersey are investigating the cause of a fire that damaged two houses early Saturday.
Officials say the fire started in a 2 1/2 story frame home on Amherst Street in East Orange at about 4 a.m. Saturday and quickly went to three alarms.
The flames spread to the roof of a neighboring house and burned from the roof to the second story. It took firefighters about 90 minutes to place the fire under control.
One child was removed from the home where the fire started, taken to University Hospital and treated and released.
The Red Cross is helping two displaced families find shelter.
