The kids were on their way to Green Grove Elementary School in Neptune Township just after 8:30 a.m. when police say a fire extinguisher fell off its bracket and engaged, spraying the exterior of the bus.
The driver pulled over and evacuated the bus. The driver and 15 children were taken to hospital as a precaution to be checked out for breathing-related complaints.
They were all treated and released.
Neptune school officials tweeted an update:
The children are from the Green Grove School. Officials from the school are with the students and will be in contact with their parents.
