LINCOLN PARK, Morris County (WABC) -- Flames engulfed a home in the flood zone near Route 202 in Lincoln Park, New Jersey.
NewsCopter 7 was over the massive fire on Riveredge Road at around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Fire and police officials were staged along Route 202.
The house was in a flooded neighborhood near the Pompton River, and firefighters could not get to it.
Boats were deployed to the scene, and crews were able to rescue the sole occupant. The woman was not injured.
Crews tried using a pump aboard one of the boats to extinguish the flames, but they were unsuccessful.
The woman's home burned down to the water line. It is considered a total loss.
This is not the first time this area has seen flooding, and many vehicles in the surrounding neighborhood were covered by the rising flood waters.
One man who lives here told Eyewitness News he knows about the problem, but he says this neighborhood is the only thing that is affordable for him.
He said he was hoping to get back into his house later Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
