NEW YORK (WABC) -- Instagram is now releasing a statement after a bug gave hackers access to users' personal information.

Instagram's CTO is saying no passwords were exposed, and they don't believe many accounts were impacted.

A spokesperson also says they are working with officials, and are aware hackers are trying to sell the alleged email and phone number data.

The hackers claim to have the personal information of over six million accounts.
