FDA questions effectiveness of hand sanitizers

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The FDA is raising questions about the safety and effectiveness of hand sanitizers especially for those like health care workers who use it hundreds of times a day.

Recent research suggests even when you use the sanitizers only on your hands, chemicals are still absorbed in your body.

The FDA plans to gather more information this year.
