PATERSON, N.J. (WABC) -- Police are searching for a driver who struck and killed a teenage bicyclist in New Jersey Monday night, while the boy's grieving parents are urging the driver to turn himself in.

Police say 16-year old Javier Burgos was hit while riding his bike near Oak and Beech Streets in Paterson at about 7:30 p.m.

Witnesses said the driver showed no compassion for the victim, leaving him in the street.

"The guy came out of the car, looked at him and left. Just took off, no feelings whatsoever, and didn't look back," said witness Diana Velez.

So there have been no arrests, but police say they have identified the suspect and recovered the car.
