ISLIP (WABC) -- A Long Island man is facing additional charges after police linked him to nine nail salon robberies.

Salvatore Scimeca, 55, of Islip, was already charged with robbing four salons when police added the five new charges.

Authorities say all of the gunpoint robberies took place in December.

According to detectives, on December 28, 2013, Scimeca entered Tony's Angel Nails on Merrick Roach in East Meadow wearing blue hoodie and a black ski mask.

He allegedly displayed a black handgun and demanded money from the cash register before fleeing on foot.

Police say he also struck at Tiffany's Nail and Spa Palace on Rockaway Avenue in Valley Stream five days earlier with a similar M.O.

He is charged with nine counts of first-degree robbery.
