LOS ANGELES (WABC) -- Justin Bieber is being investigated for attempted robbery, the LAPD confirmed Tuesday night.

The alleged encounter took place around 10:30 p.m. Monday at Sherman Oaks Castle Park, which offers miniature golf as well as batting cages.

Around that time, Bieber posted a video on Instagram showing himself playing miniature golf.

LAPD detectives were interviewing the alleged victim Tuesday night. The incident may involve a cellphone. Bieber was not arrested.

Sources say Bieber got into a scuffle with some people, and when he saw a woman and her daughter trying to take pictures with a phone, he allegedly tried to take it from her.

The LAPD has not yet questioned Bieber. A person close to Bieber says that he was just enjoying hanging out with friends at the batting cage and playing minigolf and that this wasn't a big deal. He said the alleged victim didn't stand out and that there were plenty of people taking pictures, some more aggressively than others. The person says this this is another example of someone making an issue where there isn't one.

Still, this is the latest in a long string of incidents involving the pop star. Last month, Bieber was detained by Customs for more than five hours at Los Angeles International Airport.

He is facing charges for allegedly driving under the influence and street racing in Miami. He's also dealing with assault charges in Toronto for allegedly attacking a limo driver. He's also being investigated for an alleged egging incident in Calabasas.
