LANGHORNE, Pa. -- A 26-year-old man has been charged with fatally stabbing his father in Bucks County.
Eli Goodrich was arraigned early this morning on Criminal Homicide and related charges. He is being held without bail at the Bucks County Correctional Facility.
Police say Goodrich stabbed his father, 66-year-old Alan Goodrich, after a heated argument Tuesday evening.
It happened at around 5:30 p.m. on the 500 block of Trappe Lane in Langhorne.
Police rushed to the scene after a report of a stabbing inside a home on the block.
Middletown Township Police Chief Joseph Bartorilla says, "They saw that there was an elderly gentleman suffering from at least one severe stab wound to the stomach."
The 66-year-old victim was rushed to St. Mary Medical Center, where he later died.
The victim's wife, said to be gravely ill, was taken to the same hospital by ambulance after hearing what had happened.
"At the time, the gentleman's son was also on location," Bartorilla said. "He was taken into custody."
Police said it appears the stabbing followed some type of argument that broke out between father and son.
"It looks like it was a domestic incident that resulted in the son stabbing the father," Bartorilla said.
Word of the incident spread quickly through the neighborhood.
"I'm actually shocked that something like this could actually happen in Maple Point," said neighbor Bob Prusinowsli
Tony Cumbo reacted by saying, "Oh my God, this is shocking. It's unbelievable. This neighborhood is usually quiet. We've been here for 30 years and never seen anything like this before in my life."
"You really don't know what goes on behind closed doors," said Prusinowsli. It's as simple as that."
