Citi Bike is planning to have most docking stations clear by the end of Monday as snow cleanup efforts continue following last month's winter storm, the bicycle sharing system announced.
According to Citi Bike General Manager Patrick Knoth, snow removal teams and additional crews have been working around the clock since the storm on January 25 to restore bicycle access across New York City and New Jersey.
Teams have manually cleared snow from over 600 docking stations despite challenging weather conditions, Knoth said. Crews will aim to clear 300 Citi Bike stations per day, as they work to have a majority of its 2,200 stations ready for use for the new work week.
"This work is ongoing, and we're prioritizing high-traffic stations and transit connections to get as many New Yorkers moving as possible. Since the system reopened on January 26, riders have taken more than 200,000 trips, showing that even with reduced capacity, Citi Bike remains essential infrastructure for this city," Knoth said.
"We know this has been frustrating for riders who rely on us daily, and we're grateful for their patience as we work through these unprecedented conditions. The crews are out there every day making progress."
