Jaysha Patel was in Midland Park, New Jersey where a downed tree fell onto a home Tuesday during the storm.

She spoke with the homeowner about the ordeal:

"We were in our family room, watching a movie, relaxed as possible. Then all of the sudden, we hear a boom from the tree, and that's when we noticed something was going on. We looked through the window, but we were like, 'No, we gotta get out of here.' We decided to run, and we heard this thump. It's a big tree. It literally moved the ground. Our whole house just moved."

Cleanup efforts are underway across northern New Jersey after powerful storms triggered widespread flooding and left more than 7,000 customers without power.

In Paterson, floodwaters inundated streets and sidewalks, turning roadways into rivers and sweeping vehicles away, while emergency crews rescued more than 20 people from dangerous conditions, according to Mayor Andre Sayegh.

Officials are urging drivers to avoid flooded roads as standing water continues to pose a safety risk in parts of Paterson and Newark, where crews are working to clear debris and restore normal conditions.

Areas that might see heavy rain and flooding are North and East, but Lee can't count out New York City for the morning commute as well.
