BAY SHORE, N.Y. -- Police say a Long Island woman has been arrested on an intoxicated driving charge after a crash that left her daughter and young niece injured.
Suffolk County police say Latanya Mowatt, of Deer Park, was arrested on aggravated driving while intoxicated and child endangerment charges after the Friday afternoon crash in Bay Shore.
Authorities say the 25-year-old apparently lost control of her Nissan Maxima and crashed into a utility pole and two parked cars around 4:30 p.m.
Police say Mowatt had her 8-year-old daughter and 6-year-old niece in the car at the time. Investigators say the 6-year-old was thrown from the car during the crash and had "serious internal injuries."
Police said Mowatt and her daughter had non-life-threatening injuries.
It wasn't immediately clear whether Mowatt had an attorney who could comment.
