Leg washes ashore along Hudson River on Upper West Side

UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police are investigating after a body part washed up on the Upper West Side over the weekend.

Authorities say a woman jogging along the Hudson River discovered a leg near the 79th Street Boat Basin around noon Saturday.

The discovery comes a week after a woman's torso was found floating near Red Hook.

Police released a photo of a tattoo on the body, hoping someone would recognize it and come forward to help identify the victim.

Investigators are working to figure out if the two cases are connected.
