Matthew McConaughey shares wisdom with Texas Longhorns football team

Aside from being an Academy Award-winning actor and having what is possibly the world's best catchphrase, Matthew McConaughey is a huge Texas Longhorns fan. The University of Texas alumnus stopped by the football team's practice this week to share a few inspiring words with the team.

While he promises to "not come preach anything," McConaughey asks the team to really think about why they play football.

"Ask yourself when you look in the mirror tonight," McConaughey says. "Just say, 'Why do I pay this game?"

McConaughey shares with the players that, as an actor, he believes he's done his best work when he's pushed himself to be better than he thinks he could ever be.

But, he adds, it's a lot more fun to play the game when you know that you're giving your all every day and you believe that your teammates are doing the same.

McConaughey also answered a few questions from the players, saying that his favorite movie he's ever made was the 2012 drama, "Mud."

And while he never drops his trademark "Alright, alright, alright" line into the appearance, McConaughey finishes up by leading the team in a round of the chest thumping cadence from his 2013 film, "The Wolf of Wall Street."
