Group working with city to raise money to renovate Brooklyn World War II memorial

Dozens of World War II Veterans were honored in Brooklyn this weekend at an event also dedicating to creating a permanent tribute to their courage and sacrifice.

The ceremony at Cadman Plaza Park commemorated the 70th anniversary of the allied victory in Europe. It also launched the fundraising campaign to re-open the Brooklyn War Memorial.

The building with the names of more than 11,000 Brooklynites who died in the war has been closed to the public for 25 years. A non-profit group is working with the city to raise money to renovate the memorial.
