'Good Morning America' to introduce Michael Strahan, new set in September

Good Morning America will debut two big changes in September: Michael Strahan will be joining the show full time and the morning show will also introduce an exciting new set with room for a live audience.

The television personality and NFL Hall of Famer will join George Stephanopoulos and Robin Roberts at the GMA desk on Sept. 6, kicking off the 7 a.m. ET/PT hour, according to ABC News.

"Amy Robach will deliver the news from the studio when she is not on the scene of breaking news coverage, as she has been often this summer. Ginger Zee will continue to deliver her strong reporting on weather throughout the show. Lara Spencer will have greater opportunity to do what she does best: share the best pop news, sports and live segments throughout the 2-hour show, and she will lead the charge on big interviews that can play anywhere between 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. ET/PT."

Strahan had previously been the co-host of Live! with Kelly and Michael with Kelly Ripa since 2012 before his departure to join GMA was announced in April 2016. Strahan had also appeared on Good Morning America regularly before becoming a full time co-anchor this September.

In addition to Strahan joining the GMA crew, the show will also unveil Thursday, Sept. 8 their new set that will incorporate a live audience between 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. ET/PT during the show

"Many of the regular segments GMA already does at 8:30 a.m. ET/PT, such as cooking with Emeril and live performances, are geared toward a live audience. As examples, GMA's Town Halls, Post-Oscar shows, and even Halloween offer great opportunities for our anchors to connect with real people -- their viewers," ABC News said.
