NEW YORK (WABC) -- Drivers in New Jersey will be paying significantly more to fill their tanks starting Friday morning.

The price of regular gas on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway will go up 10 cents at 7 a.m.

The price of a regular gallon of gas will rise from $2.36 to $2.46.

It means regular gas will have gone up 23 cents in the past two weeks on the roads. It rose 13 cents the week before.

The increase reflects industry wide trending upward over the past two weeks. Before that, the prices were stable.

The price on the two roads is set by taking an average of gas prices across the state, so it serves as a barometer of gas prices. The stations are only permitted to change their prices once a week.
