Fire engulfs New Jersey elementary school playground

HOWELL, New Jersey (WABC) -- A playground fire sent thick, black smoke into the air in New Jersey.

The fire broke out Sunday at the Newbury Elementary School playground in Howell Township.

When firefighters arrived at the playground, they found flames consuming much of the rubber mulch material and playground equipment.

Portions of the equipment were destroyed.
