Queens crash leaves 3 men critically injured

EAST ELMHURST (WABC) -- Three men were critically injured when a car slammed into the rear of a truck in Queens early Friday.

The black Volkswagen crashed into the truck on Astoria Boulevard at 111th Street in East Elmhurst around 4:30 a.m.

The car became wedged underneath the truck, and all three victims had to be extricated from the vehicle.

The 19-year-old driver was taken to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition. A 19-year-old passenger also went to Elmhurst with critical injuries, while a 31-year-old passenger went to New York Presbyterian Hospital Queens.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Residents said there are frequently car crashes at the intersection.
