1 dead in early morning New Jersey fire

ELIZABETH, N.J. (WABC) -- A man died in a fire in a detached garage at a New Jersey home Tuesday.

Firefighters arrived at the scene two blocks east of the New Jersey Turnpike in the 200 block of Florida Street around 5 a.m.

They quickly put out the fire and found the victim, a 66-year-old man dead inside the home.

None of the 10 residents of the multi-family home next to the garage was injured.

Second Avenue is closed in the area. The fire was out by 6:15 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
