Long Island school bus crash lands 28 in hospital

DIX HILLS, N.Y. (WABC) -- Twenty-eight people were taken to the hospital after a school bus and a box truck collided on Long Island Friday morning.

The full-size school bus was taking two dozen students to Wilson Technological Center in Dix Hills when it crashed into the truck at the intersection of Deer Park Avenue and Seaman Neck Road just before 8 a.m.

The 24 high school students on the bus, along with the bus driver and an attendant, were transported to area hospitals by the Dix Hills, Melville, West Babylon and Commack fire departments as a precaution for minor injuries. The driver of the box truck and his passenger were also transported with minor injuries to area hospitals.

The bus was traveling from Copiague High School to the tech center.

The vehicles were impounded at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
