Woman critically hurt jumping from Brooklyn building during fire

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT (WABC) -- A woman is in critical condition after jumping from a window to escape a fire in her Brooklyn high-rise building Monday.

The blaze broke out just after noon in the hallway of 128 Lewis Avenue in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section.

The woman landed on scaffolding after jumping three stories.

Police say she was taken to a hospital with a broken leg.

3 firefighters were also being checked out at the scene for minor injuries.

The FDNY says the fire was placed under control at 1:05 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation
