ELMHURST (WABC) -- The Queens Center Mall opened on time Monday after a small flood forced shoppers out early Sunday night.

Officials say a water pipe burst inside a store currently under construction, spilling water into the mall courtyard and shops.

Customers were cleared from the building so workers could stop the leak and clean up the mess.

The mall closed at 8 p.m. for about 30 minutes.

Some select stores, affected by the water, may be closed.
