WESTBURY, N.Y. -- Police say a Long Island man tried to snatch a 5-year-old boy and then scuffled with arresting officers.

Nassau County police say the incident started at 5:43 p.m. Friday in Westbury.

They say 35-year-old Prateek Pokhrel tried to grab the boy from his mother's hand as she stood at a bus stop.

The mother held onto her child and walked away. Police say Pokhrel boarded a bus.

A sergeant and an officer boarded the bus and told Pokhrel to get off. Police say Pokhrel refused and was arrested after a brief struggle.

One officer suffered a fracture to his right hand during the struggle.

Pokhrel was arrested on charges including assault, custodial Interference and resisting arrest.

It wasn't clear if he had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
