MIDDLETOWN, N.J. (WABC) -- A teenager from New Jersey has died after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run incident Tuesday.
The incident happened at about 8:25 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 36 and Avenue D in Middletown. Police said the teen girl was struck by a light gray compact car traveling west on Highway 36. Police have not released more specific details about the incident.
The girl was flown to Jersey Shore Medical Center where she later died. She was from Atlantic Highlands, and her name has not been released.
Police tracked down the driver of the car, a 49-year-old woman from Leonardo, N.J. No charges have been filed against her.
