FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WABC) -- Police in Connecticut are investigating vandalism at a beach playground built in memory of a Sandy Hook school shooting victim.

A firefighter was walking along the beach in Fairfield where the playground is located, and discovered several scratches across the sign in the memory of 6-year old Jessica Rekos.

Authorities believe the vandalism happened last week.

It will cost about $350 to replace the sign.
