MOUNT SINAI, New York (WABC) -- A Suffolk County teenager was killed in a Lamborghini accident in Mount Sinai early Friday morning.

Police say 18-year-old Samuel Shepard was killed when he lost control over the vehicle after it struck a guardrail near Route 25A early Friday morning.

A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 49-year-old Michael Power, was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Following a preliminary investigation, detectives have determined that excessive speed was an apparent factor in the crash.
