FALL RIVER, Mass. -- A robber armed with a knife attacked a store clerk in Fall River Sunday morning, but the clerk is seen on surveillance video grabbing his own knife and fights back.

"He said, 'Give me money, give me money," the victim, who didn't want to be identified, told WCVB-TV in Boston. "I was really scared. I don't know what I'm doing. Then I see the guy hit my head with a knife."

The victim came under attack, but with a fistful of cash in one hand he evens the playing field by grabbing his own knife from under the counter and swinging back.

"I think he wanted to kill me," the victim said. "That's why I self-defended myself. That's why I did it. I just made him scared."

The surveillance video showed the two men fiercely swinging at one another. The knives got dangerously close to the men, but incredibly neither gets hit.

At one point the attacker loses his knife, throws down a display rack, picked up a can of corn from the shelf and throws it.

The fight continued and eventually moved out of the view of the camera and next to the front door, where the victim threw both the knife and about $300 at his attacker. The robber then fled on foot, leaving behind the bike on which he arrived.

"I am surprised," the victim said. "It was daytime, you know 9:30, 10 a.m. Somebody came in jumping on my counter, grabbed a knife and grabbed my money."

Police are investigating the incident and no arrests have been made.
