Witnesses: Man stabbed in chest with ice pick over cell phone

HAMILTON HEIGHTS (WABC) -- A man was sent to the hospital after a stabbing and attempted robbery.

The incident happened on West 141st Street and Hamilton Place in Hamilton Heights. Witnesses say the victim was stabbed in the chest with an ice pick. Detectives were called to the scene Saturday afternoon.

Eyewitness News is waiting for word on the victim's condition, but there was a great deal of blood on the sidewalk.

Eyewitnesses believe that the stabbing was over a cell phone robbery that ended with bloodshed, but police have not yet confirmed the motive as they investigate the details of this stabbing.
