Woman found dead in backyard pool in Holbrook, LI

HOLBROOK (WABC) -- Police in Suffolk County are investigating the death of a Holbrook woman who drowned Saturday night in her backyard pool.

Officers responded at 9:33 p.m. to a 911 call reporting that a woman was found unresponsive in a pool at her home at 1882 Railroad Avenue.

Police and members of the Holbrook Fire Department Rescue Squad found Karen Gabrielsen, 50, unconscious and not breathing. She was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where she was pronounced dead.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with any information to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
