Woman injured after fall into basement of East Harlem restaurant

EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (WABC) -- A woman suffered serious injuries on Monday afternoon after she tumbled into the basement of a restaurant in Manhattan when the floor gave out beneath her.

The woman was seated over a hatch in the floor at Joy Burger Bar in East Harlem when it collapsed, causing her to fall several feet below.

Firefighters were forced to carry her out on a stretcher through an opening in the wall.

The woman was taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital in serious, but stable condition.
