HOUSTON -- A suspect is on the run after fatally shooting a former co-worker in northeast Houston and then taking off in a company truck, police say.

According to investigators, Rodney Jackson, 49, was laid off from Val-Fit on Mesa today. Police say he then got a gun and shot a manager multiple times, killing him.

"It's currently an active investigation. We're working behind the scenes to do that part so we're following all leads and asking if anyone has more information please call us," HPD detective Christopher Hassig said.

Jackson is a black male, standing around 6 feet tall and weighing around 300 pounds. He's believed to be in a white 2012 Ford F-350 flatbed truck with license plate BN81425.

At this point, we don't know the identity of the victim.
