NYACK, N.Y. -- Police are looking for a suspect in an apparent attempted luring of a Nyack Middle School student.

Around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, a 12-year-old girl was walking to school alone when she told police a "middle-aged white male" who was heavy set, bald and wearing glasses started talking to her.

He was driving a newer 4-door white sedan, possibly with gold and blue New York plates south on South Midland Avenue. The student was walking in the same direction but on the opposite sidewalk when the suspect "good morning" to her.

When the girl responded in kind, the suspect ten said "you're very pretty." The girl became alarmed, according to Orangetown Police, and tried to flee toward the school when the suspect drove his vehicle into a driveway, cutting off her path.

She tried to walk around it, but he backed up and asked her to get into the car. The student fled toward Nyack Middle School.

Anyone with information about the case, is asked to call Orangetown or South Nyack Grandview Police Departments.
