NEW YORK (WABC) -- Hundreds of police recruits can now call themselves NYPD officers.
More than 400 new officers were sworn-in at Monday's police academy graduation ceremony at the Theater at Madison Square Garden.
NYPD Commissioner James O'Neil said a lot of progress has been made in the city thanks to brave men and women like them.
He told them their number one job is to keep the people of New York safe and that comes with sacrifice.
There was also a lot of love in the room!
Right after the ceremony, Officer Phillip Santana got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend Jennifer.
Congrats to the happy couple and all the new recruits.
