NEW YORK (WABC) -- Comedian Lewis Black has been making a lot of people smile for the last 25 years, and he's done it just by being angry.

So, it was no wonder in the upcoming "Pixar" movie "Inside Out", he would play that very emotion.

It's just one of the emotions bouncing inside an 11-year-old girl's head that come to life.

"Do you ever look at someone and wonder what is going on inside their head?" the trailer to "Inside Out" says.

The brain of 11-year-old "Riley" is a very busy place:

"We're Riley's emotions, Whoo hoo," another clip said.

Each one is different:

"This is Sadness. That's Anger," the clip said.

Who better to voice such rage than Lewis Black?

"I spent 25 years on the road developing anger. I'm funniest when I'm angry," Black said.

His stand-up act was the first stop for the animators at "Pixar" who sketched him in action.

"This is something that I thought was completely out of my league," Black said.

From start to finish, the movie took five years to make with long gaps between sessions.

The finished movie includes bits from his stand-up act.

Black's fans know he can be a tough man to please and yet he said, "I feel so proud to be part of something that is completely unique and completely different."

In his view, to look "Inside Out" is the chance to leave a legacy.

"To have something that will not only affect this generation but generations, apparently to come is huge for me," Black said.
