NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) -- The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a fatal police-involved shooting in Newark.
It happened just after 5 p.m. Thursday on Hunterdon Street.
Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said Newark police officers shot a suspect who fired a shotgun at them.
Police were dispatched to a building at the intersection of Hunterdon Street and Custer Avenue on reports of a suspect with a shotgun with the caller providing a detailed description of the suspect, Ambrose said.
At the building, police say the officers shot the suspect after he fired the shotgun at them and missed.
No police officers were shot in the incident, authorities said.
