Deadly fire in Bronx apartment building leaves one dead, two Hurt

Bronx apartment fire kills 1, injures 2

MOUNT HOPE, The Bronx (WABC) -- One person is dead, and two others were injured after an overnight apartment fire in the Mount Hope section of the Bronx.

The fire broke out just after 1 a.m. on West Tremont Avenue between Phelan Place and Sedgwick Avenue, according to the FDNY.

Officials said the fire started on the top floor of the building and spread to an adjacent apartment, prompting a second alarm.

When firefighters arrived, they found one person dead at the scene. Two others suffered minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The fire was brought under control by 2:08 a.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
