Deadly Flatbush apartment fire leaves two dead, two hurt

Flatbush, BROOKYLN (WABC) -- Two people died and two others were injured in an apartment fire in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn on Friday morning.

The fire broke out just before 7 a.m. in a three-story building on Nostrand Avenue between Beverly and Cortelyou roads, according to the FDNY.

Officials said the fire started on the building's second floor.

When firefighters arrived, they found two people dead at the scene. Two others were taken to area hospitals. One person suffered serious injuries, while the other's injuries were considered nonlife-threatening.

The FDNY said the fire was brought under control by 7:38 a.m.

The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
