ORANGE, New Jersey (WABC) -- An 8-year-old girl and a 70-year-old woman died Saturday morning during a fire that charred a home in Orange, New Jersey.
Eyewitness News spoke with neighbors of Park Place who said the blaze started around 8:30 a.m. They said they tried to enter the house because they heard people were trapped inside, but there was too much smoke.
A video obtained by Eyewitness News showed black smoke billowing above the home, visible from miles around.

It was not immediately clear how the fire started.
The Red Cross said at least 20 residents were displaced.
"Volunteers will provide emergency assistance for temporary lodging, food, clothing, and other immediate needs. Red Cross Disaster Health, Disaster Mental Health, and Spiritual Care Services are also available to the families," the Red Cross said in a statement.
