ROSSVILLE (WABC) -- A 4-alarm fire burned through four townhouses in the Rossville section of Staten Island.

The fire broke out just after 4 p.m. inside a townhouse on Hampton Place and quickly spread to three others.

There are 39 units in the townhouse complex.

168 firefighters responded to the scene.

Nine firefighters suffered minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital.

The complex will shut off the utilities to 10 townhouses, and residents will have to vacate the building for now.

15 residents displaced from six units. Red Cross is housing one family at this time.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
