MONROE, CT (WABC) -- An accidental shooting in Connecticut left an 11-year-old boy hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the cheek.
Police in Monroe responded to an accidental firearm discharge at a home on Partridge Drive around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
According to authorities, a resident was securing his handgun when it accidentally went off, sending a bullet through the wall and striking the boy in the cheek.
The boy was taken to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
He later was transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital.
An investigation by local police is continuing.
