Southwest flight diverts to Texas after argument on board

CHICAGO -- A Southwest Airlines flight heading from San Diego to Chicago was forced to land in Amarillo, Texas, after an argument broke out on board.

Passengers on Flight 1522 said they felt uncomfortable with the way six men were acting towards crew members. Southwest officials said the group had become disorderly and refused to obey instructions.

Police said after a fight broke out, the pilots landed at Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport Monday night as a precaution.

Officers detained the six men. Another six members of the group also chose to deplane.

Authorities said no one was hurt and there were no weapons involved.

The flight continued on to Chicago and landed safely at Midway International Airport around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.
