EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- New York Giantshome fans were finally treated to a Daniel Jones touchdown pass for the first time in 672 days. It came on a 2-yard toss to tight end Chris Manhertzin the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders at MetLife Stadium.
The touchdown came after the Giants ran the ball down to the Commanders' 2-yard line. On first-and-goal, Jones faked the handoff to running backDevin Singletary. He turned and fired over the top of Commanders safetyPercy Butlerfor the rare passing touchdown, tying the game at 7.
Jones' last touchdown pass at home came in Week 16 of the 2022 season against the Carolina Panthers. He had played six complete games at MetLife Stadium since without a passing or rushing touchdown.
The six straight games without a touchdown was the third-longest streak by a starting quarterback in a single stadium in the Super Bowl era behind Trent Dilfer (9) with the Buccaneers and David Klingler (7) with the Bengals.
Even after the touchdown pass, Jones' stat line was 4-of-4 passing for no yards and a touchdown after he hit Manhertz for the score. The Giants ran the ball on 20 of their first 24 plays in the contest. Jones had 50 yards rushing on five carries.
