The New York Liberty announced the completion of their coaching staff Wednesday, which will include head coach Sandy Brondello's husband, Olaf Lange.
Brondello was hired in late December to guide the Liberty after spending eight seasons with the Phoenix Mercury. Last year, she and Lange were on opposite sides in the WNBA Finals as he was an assistant for the Chicago Sky, which beat the Mercury 3-1 for the title.
Lange is entering his 15th season in the WNBA. He has worked with Brondello before as an assistant with San Antonio and a consultant with Phoenix, as well as overseas. He is currently also an assistant to Brondello with the Australian women's national team.
Former WNBA player Roneeka Hodges, who spent 11 seasons in the league, and Zach O'Brien, who came with Brondello from the Mercury, also will be Liberty assistants.
"Olaf's track record as a coach and developer, both internationally and in the WNBA, will surely be an asset to our rising young core," Brondello said in a statement. "Roneeka and Zach are both lifelong students of the game and are poised to take the next step in their coaching careers with the Liberty."
