Truck flips in Linden on Route 1, injures 1

LINDEN, New Jersey (WABC) -- One person was injured after a tanker truck flipped on Route 1 in New Jersey.

Around midnight Wednesday in the 1100 block of East Edgar Road (Route 1) in Linden, a 2016 tanker truck was traveling south when the driver lost control and hit the median. The truck flipped.

According to the Linden Police Department, it spilled as much as 1,900 gallons of diesel fuel onto the road. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

A 27-year-old man, a passenger in the truck, was treated then taken to Trinitas Regional Hospital with minor injuries. Emergency personnel are on the scene.

Northbound Routes 1/9 remains closed at South Wood Avenue.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
