Long Island woman charged with DWI with toddler in car

HEMPSTEAD (WABC) -- Police on Long Island have arrested a mother is accused of driving drunk with her toddler in the car.



Officers pulled over 27-year-old Araceli Mondragon-Vargas on Fulton Avenue in Hempstead just after 4 a.m. Sunday because they say her minivan was swerving between lanes.



Authorities say they determined she was intoxicated and placed her under arrest.



Mondragon-Vargas's boyfriend and 2-year-old daughter were also in the van.



The child was removed from scene by the boyfriend.



Mondragon-Vargas is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, (a felony under Leandra's Law), endangering the welfare of a child, driving while intoxicated (BAC + .08), driving while intoxicated, failing to stay in single lane and unlicensed operator.
