ASTORIA (WABC) -- One person is dead and several others hurt after a minivan crashed in Queens.

Police say the driver, 45-year old Anthony Boyd, apparently suffered a medical condition when he lost control of his vehicle on 21st Street in Astoria Sunday afternoon.

The SUV flipped onto its side and slammed into a fire hydrant.

Boyd was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Boyd's wife, daughter and two grandsons were trapped inside. They were pulled from the mangled vehicle and rushed to Elmhurst Hospital.

They are expected to survive.
