JAMAICA (WABC) -- 37-year-old Bibi Kadim of Queens has not been seen since December 5th. Her family says she has a child's mentality, and may be in need of medical attention. She was last seen near her day program in Jamaica.
At any age, any parent who hasn't spoken to their child in six weeks is unbearable. That is how long it has been since anyone has seen or heard from Bibi Kadim.
"I'm so scared for her - they're crying, too" says Kadim's mother, Bibi Pasha.
The 37-year-old developmentally challenged immigrant from Guyana did not learn to walk or use the bathroom alone until she was 9, but after coming to the United States, she has made progress, and is able to take an ambulette alone every day to programs for mentally challenged adults.
On December 5th, Kadim left the Queens Center for Progress in Jamaica, and was supposed to be transported to a doctor's appointment, but apparently she never got on the bus to see the psychiatrist. Kadim's family was left baffled and sick.
"She does not have her medication, she has no money, no clothes - nothing for six weeks now. Nothing at all," says Kadim's mother, "and when she is not on her medication she will cry and carry on."
In addition to her ongoing treatments, she is in the middle of a breast cancer scare. Her mother says she is supposed to undergo additional testing for that. That highlights a need for urgency in locating her.
Kadim is 5'5", and weighs 170 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with any information on her whereabouts is asked to call Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
