2 vehicles on Long Island crashed early Saturday morning on Nicolls Road; 1 dead

CENTEREACH (WABC) -- A Holtsville man is dead and two others are injured after a two-car crash on Long Island.

At 1:14 a.m. Saturday in Centereach, a 2009 Ford van was parked facing southbound on the right shoulder of the northbound lane of Nicolls Road. The driver tried turn the van north and it was hit by a 2004 Ford van.

The driver of the 2009 van, Samir Patel, 51, of Holtsville, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Oswaldo Borja, 64, of Holtsville was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The 2004 Ford van, which had been entering Nicolls Road northbound from Middle Country Road, was driven by David Greene. Greene, 56, of Lake Grove, was also taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
