NEW YORK (WABC) -- Some areas got their first taste of winter Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisory and freezing rain advisory in New York and New Jersey. Wintry weather hit around 7 a.m. Thursday and continued through the morning.
Sussex County, N.J., is under a freezing rain advisory. There is a winter weather advisory in Montgomery; Northern Warren; Schoharie; Southern Fulton; Southern Herkimer; Western Albany; Western Greene; Western Schenectady; Western Ulster, Delaware and Sullivan counties in New York.
There also will be rain into the evening commute in the New York area.
The National Weather Service said snow fell Thursday morning in parts of western Connecticut. Some snow was expected in western Massachusetts as well.
